Patents
Patents have been the cornerstone of strong IP portfolios for longer than most of us have been alive. They can help you protect your product margins. They can be used creatively to increase product sales. They can be used to prevent competitors from making the features and functions your clients will pay for. They can be leveraged to generate licensing revenue, and to secure third party investments. And, ultimately, patents can be assets which increase shareholder value. But, all this depends upon having strong, broadly claimed patents. It depends upon being smart and efficient as you protect and build value in your ideas. And in so many ways, this depends upon being educated on patent fundamentals. What is a patent? What is patent infringement? How can a patent be enforced? What is prior art and why is it so critical to the patent process? How can I effectively deal with patent counsel? Simply, to be effective, we all need to speak the basic language of patents.
Our Patent Fundamentals program is intended to provide you with an understanding of patents, patent infringement, patent risks and opportunities, and generally how patents compare to other forms of intellectual property, including key terms and concepts.
